Diversity is our
greatest asset

Are you the same as everyone else? Probably not – and fortunately not! At Sandnes International School, we embrace the power of individuality and inclusion, together with an innovative teaching approach.

In an ever-changing world, standing still is the same as moving backwards. Choosing inclusion as an organizational paradigm, we commit to change and an ongoing process that aims to increase access and engagement in learning for all our students. And it is truly inspiring to watch every one of them discovering their purpose and sense of self.

SDIS is approved by The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training (Utdanningsdirektoratet).

Building a positive learning environment since 2015.

The school was established in 2015, as the first international independent school established in Rogaland. In August 2017, we welcomed our first 17 students from the local community. A year later, we became a Primary Years Programme (PYP) candidate school. February 2021, we were authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) as an IB World School, offering the PYP. Today we have close to 70 students aged 6-16 years – and we are growing!

Inspiring growth
– enriching lives

Our vision

To be the leading, English speaking and culturally diverse IB school in Norway. We inspire growth, empower excellence, and enrich lives.

Our mission

We aim to create a better world by providing students with a rigorous international education and opportunities to take meaningful action and lead change in a safe and positive learning environment in which learners’ needs are supported, differences are respected, and their unique qualities are valued and nurtured.

Next stop, next level!

As a smaller international school, we offer a learning environment with a family feel – together with global ambitions and standards.

We aim to develop:

1. Global leaders with a mindset that enable them to initiate, lead and participate in socially responsible actions

2. Entrepreneurs and innovators that will generate and apply new ideas designed to impact on the world in positive ways

3. Effective communicators who manages to exchange ideas in a clear and concise way, in addition to being a good listener.

Driven by the IB mission statement

As an IB World School, we share the International Baccalaureate’s mission and philosophy to empower young people:

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
